IndiKarting Pune KartPrix conducted its first ever event at the IndiKarting Circuit in Kharadi Pune approved by FMSCI. The Gokart race came almost after a decade in over 13 years in Pune. The entry list had seven categories of racing overall. It was not just the Pune participants, but racers from Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, Goa & Kerala turned up for the spectacular event.
The 1st of 2 events saw a total of 33 entries, with practice and qualifying on Saturday while all the races were conducted on Sunday. The Pro Category was the premier category of the event with accomplished racers racing their own karts. Aaroh Ravindra from Mumbai completely dominated, winning all 3 races of the day. He enthralled the crowd in race 2 where the start grid was based on the reverse of the finishing order of race 1. Starting last, he made his way up in the 14 lap race to win ahead of Pune’s Aanjan Patodia. Eventually Aaroh won the overall event, ahead of Aanjan & Pune’s Amit Patil in third. Pune’s Jonathan Kuriakose drove well to win the Junior Pro category.
The Senior category saw intense competition amongst many novice drivers. Aarish Daver from Pune qualified on Pole but lost a few places at the start. He soon recovered well to win the race ahead of Pratik Sonawane who drove brilliantly to finish 2nd after starting 9th on the grid. Mudar Sanchawala finished 3rd. Aarish also rounded off the weekend by winning the Corporate category as well, ahead of Khyati and Siddhant Gangwal.
The cadet category for racers between 7 and 12 years of age, drew the most cheers from the enthusiastic crowd. Aadityansh Kaulshi from Pune, won all 3 races ahead of Aryan Vasishta from Noida. Nigel Shaju came in 3rd. A special award was given to 7 year old Ranvir Singh who was the youngest participant at the KartPrix. He was on course for a 3rd place before he crashed and could not finish.
The Interschool category saw Loyola’s School student - Arya Bobade win ahead of Vedant Kakamari of Bishop’s School Kalyani Nagar. Samyak Davare from came third. Khyati Mody won the Women’s category ahead of Saira Sam and Namita Chimulkar.The last event of the IndiKarting Pune KartPrix will be conducted once again in Kharadi on 26 & 27 December. The IndiKarting Pune KartPrix has been organised with the intention of raising awareness for motorsport in India amd also to give an opportunity for youngsters.
